HOW LONG IS THE 3BY 180+HR YOGA TEACHER TRAINING?

The 180+hour yoga teacher training “The Art of Teaching Yoga I” at Three Boons Yoga Berlin will spread over a period of two consecutive months/8weeks. The upcoming Spring/Summer 2024 180+hr Training will take place in April and May 2024.

HOW OFTEN ARE WE MEETING?

We will come together in a group setting on 5 weekends and 7 Wednesdays during this period. There will be approximately 3 hours of homework after each weekend and 2 hours preparation time for the assignments. This will set up a strong foundation for the sessions we will be spending together as a group. Weekend sessions are Saturday and Sunday from 08:00 am to 18:00 pm and on Friday evening (except for the first weekend) from 16:00 to 19:00 pm.

Our Wednesday sessions are from 18:00 to 20:00 pm. There are “Catch-up Wednesdays” which are the ones that precede the weekends on which we meet. They are designed for everyone to catch up on the training material and will include a Q&A session. The homework of the week before will be corrected. We will also talk about the upcoming schedule and mentally prepare ourselves for the upcoming weekend intensive. These meetings also serve for the facilitator to assess the progress you are making and to ensure that you are well prepared for the upcoming weekend.

The Wednesday in the other weeks is our "Work&Study Group Wednesday". Here we deepen and cover assists which we have covered on the TT weekend and we also work on material that we have covered on the TT weekends that needs to be repeated. Both Wednesdays will be at the school, but you could also join via Live-or Flex-stream, always keeping in mind that being with us in person at the school is always better for your training results.  The  Wednesday meetings are equally as important as the weekends . Right afterwards, you could have your daily practice at the school in our Three Boons The Razor's Edge class from 20:15-21:30.

Practicing asana regularly (5 times a week) at Three Boons Yoga Berlin (on site or through the live-stream classes with your camera on) is required throughout the entire duration of the training (April and May 2024).

We also ask participants to have a daily meditation practice and write a meditation journal over the course of the two months that the training takes place.

For your planning, these are our group meeting dates and times of our upcoming Spring/Summer 2024 180+hour teacher training “The Art of Teaching Yoga I”:

WHERE ARE WE MEETING?

The training will take place physically at Three Boons Yoga Berlin in Berlin-Mitte, Brunnenstr. 29. For interested participants coming from outside Berlin, we offer the option to take the training online via Zoom. You will need to decide before the start of the course if you want to take part in person in Berlin or online via Zoom.

In important instances (like illness or unavoidable travels) the online option will also be available to in-person teacher trainees as a backup alternative to missing sessions. Vice-versa, online teacher trainees are welcome to visit us in person for parts of the training (prior notification to the program director is required).

The training requires your time and presence at all scheduled class times, i.e. even if you are taking the training on-line you should be present with your camera on when the training is actually happening. Replays of recordings of the training are offered to trainees for re-cap or to cover unavoidable circumstances.

WHY 180+HOURS?

From our long-time experience with teacher trainings and newly certified yoga teachers, the ideal foundation to become a solid yoga teacher are 300+ combined hours of foundational training complemented by a close mentorship period with a mentor yoga teacher (for a total combined certification of around 1,000 hours).

It is often said that it takes 10,000 hours of intensive practice to begin to master complex skills and materials. This definitely also applies to the path of becoming an accomplished yoga teacher. With combined approx. 1,000 hours of guided training, we feel new teachers will have a solid foundation to deepen their further path mainly through their own personal efforts, commitment and dedication.

As every yogi and aspirational yoga teacher follows his/her own path, we offer two volumes of small-group training (a.k.a. The Art of Teaching Yoga I and II) for a combined foundational 335+hour teacher training and, in addition, a one-on-one 630+hour mentorship program (a.k.a. The Art of Teaching Yoga III). This three step approach allows you to create your own mix-and-match path on your way to achieve the best training as a yogi and a yoga teacher:

  • 180+HOUR CERTIFICATION: Our The Art of Teaching Yoga I training is a 180+hour training that is aimed at enabling you to teach the Three Boons Yoga The Razor’s Edge75 class. You will receive a 180+hour certificate of completion if you actively took part in all sessions of the training.

  • 200+HOUR CERTIFICATION: An option to teach a test class in front of members of the 3BY teacher training faculty is offered to all 180+hour Three Boons teacher training participants after completion of The Art of Teaching Yoga I and 20 hours of additional self-study, practicals and preparation. This includes trial teaching sessions to your fellow trainees or other friends, producing and sending in a recording of yourself teaching the Three Boons The Razor’s Edge75 class to a fellow trainee/friend as a pre-requisite to be admitted to holding the in-person test class exam. Upon passing the test class exam, you will receive a 200+hour certificate from Three Boons Yoga Berlin that authorizes you to teach the Three Boons The Razor’s Edge75 class. The exam fee for the first test class is already included in the 180+hour tuition.

  • 300+HOUR CERTIFICATION: The Art of Teaching Yoga II is a second teacher training offering in the form of a 135+hour yoga teacher training that will enable you to deepen your studies and understanding of yoga and, combined with our 180+hour training, achieve a 300+hours certification.

  • 930+HOUR CERTIFICATION: The Three Boons Yoga 630+hour Mentoring Program can be endeavored by you after having taken a Three Boons (The Art of Teaching Yoga I or II) or a Jivamukti Yoga training and upon acceptance by a mentor teacher at our yoga school. (more information can be found on the 630+ hour Mentoring Program section of our website).

  • COMBINATION WITH OTHER TRAININGS: If you already took other trainings before or are planning to do so later, you could choose to pick our 180+hour training or our 135+hour training as an continuing education or a foundational training. Both trainings are a great way to dive deeper into how we teach at Three Boons Yoga Berlin, to continue your education as a yoga teacher and to qualify you to take part in our 630+hours mentoring program.  The Art of Teaching Yoga II is also very well suited to be combined with 75-hour foundational trainings, especially ones that are Jivamukti/Vinyasa Yoga based, in order to achieve a combined 200+hour certification.

WHAT CERTIFICATE DO I RECEIVE WITH THIS TRAINING?

180+HR CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION: After successfully completing the training (which requires your presence and active participation during all parts of the training), you receive a signed official certificate of completion from us confirming you successfully completed 180+hours of Yoga Teacher Training at Three Boons Yoga Berlin.

200+HR CERTIFICATE OF AUTHORIZATION: Optionally, after 20 hours of additional self-study, practicals and preparation, you can receive a 200+hour certificate from Three Boons Yoga Berlin that authorizes you to teach the Three Boons Yoga Open75 class. These extra 20 hours include trial teaching sessions to your fellow trainees or other friends, producing and sending in a recording of yourself teaching the Three Boons Open75 class to a fellow trainee/friend as a pre-requisite to be admitted to holding the in-person test class exam in front of Three Boons Teacher Training faculty members that you need to pass. The exam fee for the first test class is already included in the 180+hour tuition.

WHICH LANGUAGE IS THE TRAINING HELD IN?

As our student base as Three Boons Yoga Berlin f.k.a. Jivamukti Yoga Berlin historically has been and still is very diverse and international as are our yoga classes, we offer this training in the English language. Usually, half of our teacher trainees are not native Germans so the English language gives us a better common ground for communicating and teaching this training. However, Anja and most other faculty also are native German speakers, so even if your English is not the best, you will be able to communicate in German during the training if needed.
